We provide them with 13x2” rough sawn shelves and they purchased the hardware to complete the install themselves! These shelves were clear-coated to highlight the natural characteristics of the wood and turned out beautifully!

barn beam Chandelier

A client contacted us needing a chandelier for the top of her stairway. We used rough sawn 4”x4” for the main beam, a rough sawn 2”x4” for the mount, and insulators for the rope to hang down from. The rope is original from the hay trolley in the Kenosha barn where the wood also came from. Lastly, we used blue and clear insulators for the lamp shades.

Barn doors

This client wanted to replace her boring white doors. We used one barn door just as it came out of the barn for the attic entrance. We custom built 2 more for the closet doors. This client loves unique pieces, so we used barn siding from Kenosha with original paint to add texture. We also used reclaimed handles from a barn.

Sailboat themed fireplace mantle

This client wanted a mantle that represented his love of sailing and complimented the waterfront seen from the front window of his home. We used reclaimed barn beams for the mantle and reclaimed mahogany to form the transom of the sailboat. We were challenged by what to do with their sound bar, so the hull of the sailboat is hollow and serves as a shelf, with the coordinates cut through the wood and covered with speaker mesh so the sound carries through them. We built an original-looking ship’s deck as an access point.

Ceiling beam accent

These clients approached us wanting to update their bedroom with some cool beams! Down the center of the ceiling is a rough sawn 6”x8” beam and running down each side are 6”x8” beams. We milled in half and joined them together to make them look authentic. We added a special metal feature to hang their ceiling fan from.

Rough Sawn Beam Fire PLace Mantle

These clients contacted us to replace their 1980’s mantle with a barn beam. For this project, we picked out a rough sawn 6”x8”x74” beam from a barn in Burlington and finished it with a simple clear coat to bring out the natural characteristics of the wood.

Laundry Room Door-Grab

This client approached us because his wife wanted to switch out the boring laundry room door to something fun. They had some ideas, so we sourced an antique door that stylistically matched their home, rehabbed it, and installed an acrylic pane with writing so there was no fear of the kids accidentally breaking it.

CUSHMAN MANTLE PROJECT

This custom client project features a reclaimed rough-sawn 8x8 barn beam with handmade corbels for accent.

This project was unique because of an existing part of the original mantle that couldn’t be removed. We had to hollow out the new beam using a router so we could place it directly over the remainder of the old one. Fits like a glove! This beam came from a barn tear down in Reeseville, WI.
