Custom Live Edge Cherry Entryway Table from ATGCC
An entryway table is the first thing a guest sees when they walk in your home, and adding an entryway table to your home can make your space warm and inviting! A client visited our shop recently and immediately fell in love with this beautiful cherry wood live edge slab. But, they had no idea how to work it into their decor. Since they had limited space to work with, we suggested a custom entryway table for their home. The entryway table needed to be 40 to 42 inches long and 12 to 16 inches wide. After all, at Against the Grain Creative Concepts, we believe that reclaimed wood furniture stands out from the rest because it has character! We preserve the history of the wood, leaving the saw cuts, scars, and distinctive markings. We believe that scars have stories! The inevitable marks of use, utility, and age shouldn’t be erased, they should be embraced. These marks, mars, and scars don’t detract from the beauty and artistic expression of an item, rather they are proof that it has value, that it was used, that it was loved, so we loved tying this live edge cherry slab into a more modern piece!
Once the live edge cherry was cut to meet the custom dimensions, it was planed and sanded and we added a metal powder-coated base in order to combine the live wood with a more modern aesthetic. But we left the wormholes, mars, scars, and all to preserve the character! This piece fits beautifully in its new home and became one of our favorite custom projects in 2020.
