Custom Made Walnut Barn Doors from ATGCC

Recently, some clients approached us for a custom build that carried sentimental value, so it was important to get it just right! The team at ATGCC was up to the challenge! 

The client wanted to utilize walnut wood slabs that came from a tree at their father’s family farm to build barn doors for their entryway closet. There was very little left of the tree after it had been carefully disbursed to the other members of the family. All the other family members had created something from the wood, so the client wanted a statement piece using the walnut to pass down as a remembrance. We needed to use what walnut was left to show off the quality and character, while still fitting the clients aesthetic. We went with a more modern style barn door utilizing black powder-coated aluminum for less weight, but also to showcase the pattern and color of the unique walnut grain pattern in the wood. The barn doors can’t fully open, so we used a bypass type barn door on a single rail to make it work.

This project turned out beautifully and just in time! The client had actually come to us in October hoping to have this project completed by Christmas, a huge stretch, but we finished and had it installed by December 23rd for a very merry Christmas present!
