Riverhills, North Milwaukee Custom Pieces from ATGCC

There's nothing more exciting than a complete home makeover! There are so many possibilities when style and creativity are combined to create an aesthetic that matches your personal brand! This client was gutting their home and needed multiple custom pieces from the crew at Against the Grain Creative Concepts.

During the home renovation, the client decided they wanted to keep the marble fireplace, but add something unique to the design.

Hand-hewn beams now encase this beautiful marble fireplace. The beam used for the mantle measure 10 x12 and the upright beams are 10x10’s. An interesting challenge arose when we had to fabricate the beams at different levels to encase the existing fireplace and facade. The beams, as well as an accompanying beam for the mantle, are all repurposed from a barn in Slinger dating back to the 1800s.

From the same barn in Slinger, we sourced materials for a custom kitchen island for this client.

The main legs are hand-hewn beams matching the fireplace mantel. A custom 3-inch thick 4x4 x 36 walnut butcher block constructed in Ohio acts as the top. This piece features two full drawers that pull out and cubbies on the opposing side. The drawers were constructed from barn siding from a barn teardown in Kenosha.

We used the same barn siding from the Kenosha barn teardown to create custom shelves to tie everything together! The floating shelves are 3 in thick, 12 inches deep (32 and 38 wide), supported by barn wood floor joists from the Reeseville Barn tear down.
